Project Title: Nursing Students International Experience: Travel
Project Description: With nurses functioning at the interface between people of various cultures and healthcare system, transcultural competence is critical to functioning in a global society, both at home and abroad. Nurses with international experience have increased in self-confidence and cultural competence skills, understand various lifestyles and the interaction between environment and health. Even a short one week experience can have a profound lasting effect on the nurse's self confidence and cultural competence.

Like many SRU students, few nursing students have traveled internationally. For nursing students are challenged to find time or money for international travel among the competing demands of work, school, and family. While the school can attend to the scheduling, an international travel fund will help defray travel costs.
